MAX TRAIN

RESOURCE FOR THE COORDINATION OF INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION PROJECTS IN CRANIO- MAXILLOFACIAL SURGERY OF EACMFS.

What is Max Train?

Achieving universal access to surgery (including oral and craniomaxillofacial surgery) for all human beings is one of the Sustainable Development Goals set by the UN for 2030, and this requires the cooperation, among many others, of the entire global Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery community and our professional organizations.

Many Oral and Craniomaxillofacial Surgeons in Europe are promoting or collaborating in International Cooperation projects in LMICs (Low and Medium Income Countries).

The Executive and Council of EACMFS have approved the creation of a structure for the impulse, support and coordination of these projects.. Members of EACMFS would participate targeting the following objectives:

MAX TRAIN is going to play a crucial role in bridging the gap between oral and craniomaxillofacial surgeons across Europe and low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Facilitating networking and information exchange not only enhances collaborative efforts, but also fosters a community in our professional field focused on advancing global surgical care. This platform is essential for sharing interests, projects and expertise, and will contribute significantly to the improvement of surgical care for many patients with cranio-maxillofacial pathologies in countries where care is so far virtually non-existent.

The initiative taken by MAX TRAIN to support the creation and development of new projects in cranio-maxillofacial surgery is highly commendable. Its efforts to streamline the search for volunteers and identify sources of funding address two major challenges facing international cooperation projects. In this regard, MAX TRAIN is going to promote the realisation of more innovative projects, which has a direct impact on the quality of surgical care in under-resourced regions. This approach is not only practical, but aligns perfectly with the overall goal of achieving universal access to quality surgical care.

MAX TRAIN's commitment to promoting training and exchange programmes in developing countries is an important step towards global surgical equity. By providing overseas opportunities for European surgeons and identifying centres where surgeons from low- and middle-income countries can gain experience, MAX TRAIN plays a key role in promoting comprehensive surgical training globally. This not only improves the skills of individual surgeons, but also contributes to the broader goal of improving healthcare standards worldwide. Such initiatives are essential if the global surgical community is to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
